PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Conducts programs to train Gregory Poole customers in proper operation and daily maintenance of Heavy Equipment; will also be responsible for quoting and help with invoicing for the training. 

Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish) 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Training

  1.  Perform theoretical/practical-using knowledge of adult learning.   Presents prepared training programs to individuals or groups.
  2. Confer with management, customers, and staff to determine operator training needs.
  3. Prepare training schedule of classes based on customer request and availability of training equipment.
  4. Facilitate- classes on heavy equipment operator safety and machine operation following outline and texts.
  5. Inspect and submit documentation on Cat Used for Trade-in and Rental machines as needed.
  6.  Haul and Operate Simulator Trailer for training on location at Customer sites and different events.  
  7. Demonstrate procedures being taught, such as equipment operations and daily maintenance.
  8. Instruct students on proper machine operation and observe students while operating.
  9. Lead class discussion groups on safety and proper equipment operation.  Manage conflict within a group, assures total and balanced participation.
  10. Administer written and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate students’ performance.  Analyze test data and reports the effectiveness of operator training.
  11. Participate in meetings, seminars and training sessions to obtain equipment operation and integrates information into training program.
  12. Assists individuals in determining their equipment strengths and areas requiring improvement.  Work with individuals one-on-one to assess skills, knowledge and abilities. Help market the total training package to external customer.
  13. Identify areas in which operator training is needed to achieve targeted levels of performance.  Measures current levels of performance against ideal desired levels of performance.
  14. Ensures that people, equipment, and material are in place when needed.
  15.  Regularly and on time submit an accurate record of business expenses for reimbursement.  Targeted for the 25th of each month.    

Sales

 

  1. Keep in contact with PSSR’s and Salesmen to identify customer training needs.
  2. Perform Task Training as requested for Equipment Operation on MSHA and OSHA sites.
  3. Able to Certify Operators up to Level 2 for Multiple Cat machines.
  4. Keep customers informed of training programs offered by the vendors.
    1. Be aware of the latest product improvements and update reference materials as new data is released.
  5. Effectively utilize all available technical and sales training offered by Caterpillar and Allied venders.
    1. Attending required training and meetings.
    2. The representative should discuss openly with the management any training needs they feel necessary for development.
  6. Maintain good customer relations.
    1. An ethical and reputable business relationship is maintained with all customers.
    2. A minimum number of customer complaints resulting from services performed.
  7. Address customer complaints in accordance with Company Policy and advise management promptly of any situations beyond your scope of authority.
    1. Be the liaison between the customer and the source of the concern. 
    2. Ensure the discrepancy is properly communicated to the appropriate manager.
    3. Follow-up promptly to ensure customer satisfaction was obtained.
  8. Always maintain a professional and proper personal appearance.
    1. Adhere to company policy utilizing business casual as the standard governed by the type of activity to be performed.
  9. Properly maintain Company property.
    1. Maintain the Company provided vehicle in a clean and organized fashion at all times.
    2. All assigned company property is accounted for and maintained as company policy dictates.

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma with at least five years equipment operational experience and at least two years training/educating others on equipment operations; or a two- or four-year degree preferably in equipment technology trades, education or business with at least two years  equipment operational experience and/or training/educating others on equipment operations.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers of GPEC.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

 

Valid state driver license with an acceptable driving record.

Cat Certified Dealer Instructor including 3 machine families

Maintain Caterpillar Certified Instructor Accreditation Program. (CIAP) 

Must keep current MSHA certification, and Site-Specific safety Certifications for our customer sites.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Ability to use a PC computer and associated software to perform research and communication. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must perform responsibilities either in an office environment or in the field visiting and working at customer job sites. 

Must conform to proper company safety protocol and wear all proper PPE as required.

While performing the job duties must regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reaches with hands and arms; climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls; and talks or hears, as well as stands, walks and sits.

Must regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and or move up 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. 

Specific vision abilities require close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

Must have the physical capabilities to climb stairs and large pieces of mobile heavy equipment. 

Works near moving mechanical parts and frequently works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet/humid condition, fumes or airborne particles. 

Occasionally exposed to extreme cold or heat. 

The noise level in the work environment may also be very loud. 

Requires normal eyesight to read and interpret technical information, as well as hearing and speaking ability to communicate with personnel of GPEC; and those employed by our customers. 

Must have the ability to distinguish color is desired, but not necessary.
