JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is contingent on a contract award.

Serves as state-level military human resources (HR) representative to provide information, referral, and outreach to geographically dispersed surviving family members, supporting them in times of crisis at the loss of their service member. Collaborates with the state's Casualty Assistance Officer (CAO) and at minimum, within two weeks of the completion of the CAO checklist, assumes the duties and functions of caring for the family in need. Works with the families of all fallen Soldiers, regardless of the Army component (Active, National Guard or Army Reserve) in which they served. Maintains availability via telephone 24/7/365 to receive requests for assistance from constituents.
  • Contacts and/or meets with each survivor (in person or via telephone, electronic mail, mail, Skype, etc.) during the transition from the CAO, at milestone management events, and whenever a survivor requires assistance, but no less than once annually.

  • Provides information for family members and survivors on Army National Guard (ARNG) resilience programs.

  • Liaises with civilian and military service providers and assumes lead responsibility for developing appropriate relationships and partnerships.

  • Conducts and/or facilitates non-clinical support. Provides information and referral services assessing individual and family needs, and follows up with survivors for outstanding issue resolution.

  • Maintains, updates, and expands a directory of resources, agencies and organizations that are available to assist military families and survivors.

  • Coordinates with the Casualty Assistance Center (CAC) in service delivery to survivors. Coordinates and conducts referrals for financial assistance from military, government, and civilian organizations to support survivors and family members.

  • Creates Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) program slides for trainings and/or briefings and serves as the central POC. Coordinates briefings as appropriate. Creates Journal entries to document SOS cases in the systems of record and documents all contacts in the SOS Module. Prepares Monthly workload reports containing workload data from the SOS application.

  • Maintains contact with survivors and family members by mailing items such as (but not limited to) birthday cards, Christmas cards, anniversary cards, and event invitations.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Other Job Requirements

Responsibilities

3+ years of Human Resources experience in administration supporting the military.

Experience can be gained through prior or current military service, member of a military family, or service as a military family volunteer.

Ability to work as part of a team; strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to work autonomously and effectively in a fast-paced, complex, multi-tasking virtual environment.

Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills.

Strong Microsoft Office skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, etc.).

Ability to manage multiple projects, often under time constraints, and motivate colleagues towards a common goal.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
