Role:

The Head Teller makes or obtains decisions regarding non-routine transactions to ensure all customers' needs are being met by CSR's. The Head Teller observes and coaches CSR staff to ensure they are adhering to bank policies, government regulations and bank customer service standards.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Schedules and monitors daily activities of CSRs.
  • Works the teller window (change orders, drive-up, night deposit, mail deposit, money orders, cashiers checks, safe deposit boxes, cash checks/money transactions, ATM cards, counting money, balance window).
  • Trains, directs and evaluates employee performance within the department, identifies performance problems and takes action to correct.
  • Open new accounts and performs account maintenance.
  • Researches (missing items).
  • Processes ACH and wire transfers.
  • Answering phones.
  • Vault management.
  • First step in resolving customer questions and complaints.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Promotes the banks services and makes referrals to other bank departments.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Management:

  • Maintain a cohesive, highly trained, motivated staff sufficient to meet daily department demands.
  • Ensure that the department is providing friendly, professional service to all customers.
  • Keep management informed regarding key operating issues affecting the department.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education and/or Experience.

  • High school education or General Education Degree (GED), or equivalent.
  • One to three years of banking experience required.
  • Understands basic accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of office equipment.
  • Has strong customer service skills and enjoys working with the public.

Interpersonal Skills.

  • Courtesy, customer service and tact are essential elements of the job.
  • Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

While performing this job the employee would occasionally be required to carry loads up to and including 24lbs. It is frequently necessary to bend, squat, reach above the shoulder level, crouch, kneel, balance and push/pull equipment. Firm grasping/fine manipulation with the right/left hand is necessary. In an 8-hour day, the employee can expect to sit about 6 hours.
