A Brief Overview
The Compounding Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of compounding for new and existing products. This role involves supervising day-to-day operations including pre-weighing, material management, safety protocols, and compliance with regulatory standards such as GMPs and FDA guidelines. The Compounding Supervisor will ensure production schedules are met while maintaining high-quality standards and safety. Additionally, this position will lead efforts in continuous improvement, staff training, and error prevention to optimize departmental efficiency. A sense of urgency, attention to detail, and leadership are essential to succeed in this role.
What you will do
- Ensure all aspects of chemical compounding, pre-weigh, and material management are executed according to schedule and customer requirements.
- Ensure all documentation is completed per GMPs, SOPs, FDA standards, and customer requirements.
- Optimize compounding processes, procedures, and batching instructions; improve department efficiency and productivity.
- Manage staffing schedules, ensure team members are trained, and oversee adherence to GMPs and business best practices.
- Collaborate with the QA department to investigate batching errors, implement corrective actions, and prevent future errors.
- Promote safety awareness, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and maintain a clean, hazard-free environment.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, materials, and safety supplies for uninterrupted production.
- Approve time and attendance, manage overtime authorizations, and plan tasks.
- Responsible for continuous improvement activities in compounding department – optimize existing processes, procedures and batching instructions. Evaluate, design, and install process systems that will improve compounding capability and productivity

Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
Experience Qualifications
- 1-3 years Leadership experience in cosmetic or personal care setting (Preferred)
- 1-3 years Experience in compounding, batching, or mixing in a manufacturing environment, particularly in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or chemicals (Preferred)
- 1-3 years Proven track record of driving process improvements, optimizing production workflows, and implementing corrective actions to prevent errors (Preferred)
- 1-3 years Hands-on experience with safety protocols in handling hazardous materials (Preferred)
- 1-3 years Experience in inventory control, particularly with chemical raw materials, and managing equipment or supply needs for uninterrupted production (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of compounding, batching, and material handling procedures, including pre-weigh, hazardous and non-hazardous materials, and waste management. (Medium proficiency)
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as GMPs, FDA guidelines, and SOPs, specifically related to compounding in a manufacturing environment. (Medium proficiency)
- Familiarity with chemical raw material usage, inventory management, and tracking systems to ensure efficient production. (Low proficiency)
- Understanding of safety practices and OSHA regulations related to hazardous chemicals, waste handling, and compounding operations. (Medium proficiency)
- Ability to manage, motivate, and schedule staff across multiple shifts to ensure smooth production flow and proper staffing. (Medium proficiency)
- Analytical skills for investigating batching errors, troubleshooting, and implementing corrective actions or process improvements. (Medium proficiency)
- Skill in managing time-sensitive production schedules while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. (Medium proficiency)
- Ability to communicate effectively with QA, production staff, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve issues promptly. (Medium proficiency)
- Ability to maintain accurate record-keeping and ensure compliance with all documentation requirements related to GMPs and customer specifications. (Medium proficiency)
- Ability to adapt to changing customer demands, optimize processes, and implement continuous improvement strategies in the compounding department. (Medium proficiency)
- Ability to make quick, informed decisions to meet batching deadlines without compromising safety or quality. (Medium proficiency)
- Capacity to oversee and supervise physical compounding tasks, ensuring safety and compliance while managing the team’s activities. (Medium proficiency)
