TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Project Engineer to join our team in Tampa, Florida.   

Summary: The Professional Engineer completes all the technical aspects of various jobs for the project managers of the Tampa office. Candidate is responsible for assisting with ongoing design, construction and maintenance contracts focusing on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), and Tolling projects. Candidate will also be responsible for completing some in-house work for FDOT District 7 and District 1 to help coordinate all activities of the TSM&O office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for the technical aspects of a variety of transportation related projects that may include networking, design, planning, scheduling, and maintaining projects.
  • Develops plans, specifications, and estimates for transportation infrastructure projects; technical documentation, and progress reporting.
  • Assists with design and delivery of transit, highway, and arterial transportation design or consulting duties.
  • Support marketing and business development activities for ITS, ATMS, and Tolling projects.
  • Review field conditions relevant to constructability of design elements.
  • Assists with traffic design, ITS design, and lighting analysis and design.
  • Analyze traffic information and develop into a reportable format for monitoring of performance measures.
  • Investigate potential solutions utilizing prior experience, literature review and product research.
  • Utilizing prior experience, literature review, and product research investigates alternate component technologies or supplies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability and implement changes.

Required Skills:  

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience. Experience in the tolling and or Intelligent Transportation System industry preferred.
  • Technical background in networking required. Networking experience with FDOT jobs and intelligent transportation systems preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of current desktop technologies and communications software including Windows, serial communications, and TCP/IP concept

Desired Skills: 

  • Security and network development experience
  • Project Management capabilities and proficiency with Project Management Software

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
