Senior Vice President, General Manager - Operations

We are an independent, global, one-stop-shop focused on delivering Central Laboratory Services that are tailor-made, timely and flexible to meet the evolving study demands of traditional to increasingly complex trials. Additionally, we provide Functional Service Provider (FSP) Solutions, supporting our clients with scientific and technical expertise, acting as an extension of their team, coordinating all laboratory related needs, advising on strategies for lab data collection and providing end-to-end analytical and logistical solutions.
Summary
The SVP, General Manager Operations (US), is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. The SVP General Manager Operations (US) is responsible for providing leadership, direction and oversight for the operational functions in the US and is fully responsible for the US P&L. The SVP, General Manager Operations (US) shares responsibility for the overall success and performance of the organization and collaborates closely with other executive team members to support the optimization of core operational functions across the organization, while ensuring efficiency, compliance and profitability.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the SVP, General Manager Operations (US), is to make certain that company-wide operations are functioning at optimal levels of effectiveness and efficiency to meet the business and strategic priorities of the organization. Including, but not limited to:
Operations:
- Serves as a member of the Executive Team, participating in short- and long-range strategic plans, company structure, and objectives for organizational management.
- Fully responsible for US P&L and accountable for the financial performance of the business unit, including revenue generation, cost management, and profitability.
- Managing the day-to-day activities of a business, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning. Drive operational excellence by identifying inefficiencies, implementing process improvements, and leveraging technology to optimize workflows.
- Developing and implementing operational strategies that align with the overall business goals and objectives
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and drive accountability across departments
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with healthcare standards.
- Effectively allocating and managing resources, including personnel, budget, and forecasting costs, and ensuring financial stability.
- Preparing regular reports on operational performance and progress.
- Ensuring effective communication between different departments and levels within the organization.
Team Leadership:
- Leading and motivating teams to achieve operational goals and objectives.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and innovation. Providing training and development opportunities to enhance employee skills and productivity
- Encourage collaboration across departments to improve operational effectiveness.
Process Improvement:
- Monitoring organizational performance, identifying areas for improvement, and making data-driven decisions; Identifying areas for improvement in operational processes and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Conduct analysis of quality related issues on a daily basis and provide corrective and preventive actions as required.
- Improve the quality of products, processes, and systems by imparting related knowledge.
Education/Experience/Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree required, strongly preferred in Business, Healthcare, or another related field.
- 10+ years prior background in progressive roles focused on Operational Management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership (VP or above) role in a Central Lab environment.
- Experience in a high growth environment is a plus.
- Proven experience of leading complex projects and successfully implementing change and transformation.
- Proven track record of providing guidance and support to global, cross-cultural organizations on Incentive topics and adding value through the development of creative solutions to challenging problems.
- Proven organizational skills, a strong tolerance for ambiguity, detail-oriented with ability to function strategically and tactically under pressure.
- Excellent leadership skills to oversee teams, lead strategic initiatives and successfully achieve sustained operational improvements.
- Deep expertise in process improvement methodologies.
- Financial acumen in budgeting, operational performance, and resource stewardship within the healthcare setting.
- Strong strategic planning, operational management, performance tracking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, oral, and listening communication skills.
- Ability to anticipate issues before they arise and work to proactively support resolution.
- Exceptional personal accountability and the highest ethical standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, applicant tracking software, and other technological skills.
Job Location:
- Located in Raleigh, NC (RTP area) with the ability to come into the office as needed for meetings
- Travel as required
