JOB SUMMARY
The Privacy Officer will lead the enhancement of Flagstar’s privacy program, ensuring the protection of customer information and adherence to all relevant federal and state laws and regulations. In doing so, the Privacy Officer will actively liaise with key constituencies across the organization, including (but not limited to) the Information Security and Information Technology Departments.Pay Range: Local Minimum Wage - $0.00 - $0.00

Job Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 
•    Privacy Strategy Development.   Drive the development and implementation of comprehensive privacy policies and procedures based on relevant state, federal, and international laws and regulations.  Stay current with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices regarding data privacy. 
•    Stakeholder Collaboration.  Work closely with IT, legal, and other departments to integrate privacy into business processes. Act as the primary point of contact for privacy-related inquiries and concerns. 
•   Monitoring and Reporting.  Monitor privacy metrics and report to the executive team and board on the status of privacy initiatives.  Provide recommendations for continuous improvement in privacy practices.
•     Risk Management.   Identify, assess, and mitigate privacy risks related to new products, services, and technologies.  
•    Training and Awareness.  Develop and deliver training programs for employees based on privacy policies and best practices.  Foster a culture of privacy awareness throughout the organization.
•   External Engagement.  Liaise with regulators and industry groups on privacy-related matters.  Represent the bank in discussions related to privacy and data protection.
•    Use independent judgement and discretion to make decisions regarding the enhancement of the Privacy Program and the prioritization of privacy matters.
•    Analyze and resolve problems pertaining to privacy issues, incidents, standards, and practices.
•    Responsible for talent management functions including: employment, performance evaluations, staff development/training, disciplinary actions, succession planning and ensuring all staff comply with compliance requirements.

ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
•    Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
•    Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings.  Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. 


JOB REQUIREMENTS 

Required Qualifications:

•    Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent)  
•    Minimum experience required: 10+ Years of experience in privacy within the banking or financial services sector. 
•    Experience managing privacy within a complex organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
•    Education level preferred: Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent) in business, information technology or a related field, or a J.D., is preferred.
•    CIPP, CIPT and/or CIPM (or equivalent) designation(s) are highly desirable.

•    Ability to navigate a complex corporate and regulatory environment
•    Ability to effectively liaise with multiple constituencies across the organization
•    Good judgment and the ability to identify and escalate issues 
•    Organized and detail-oriented
•    Proactive self-starter; ability to provide effective solutions
•    Capacity to influence and drive positive outcomes
•    Physical demands (ADA): No unusual physical exertion is involved.
