GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the HVAC Manager, the HVAC Maintenance Leader is responsible for performing supervisory duties related to the maintenance, repair, and construction of HVAC systems and related equipment within buildings and facilities. This role involves planning, scheduling, assigning, and reviewing work while providing training and counseling to team members and evaluating their performance. The technician monitors and inspects work activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and safety standards, thereby maintaining operational efficiency and a safe working environment. Additionally, the HVAC Maintenance Leader is tasked with planning job layouts, estimating materials, determining necessary equipment and tools, and overseeing preventive maintenance activities to extend the lifecycle of assets. This position also requires preparing and maintaining detailed reports and records related to work performed and materials used.

COMPENSATION: Hourly - $26.01 - $27.38, based on experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervise and coordinate the maintenance, repair, and construction of HVAC systems and related equipment within buildings and facilities.
- Plan, schedule, assign, and review work for team members, ensuring efficient workflow and task completion.
- Provide training and counseling to team members, evaluating their performance and offering constructive feedback.
- Monitor and inspect work activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and safety standards.
- Participate in work activities as needed, prioritizing tasks to maintain operational efficiency.
- Plan job layouts and estimate materials, determining necessary equipment and tools for HVAC maintenance tasks.
- Create drawings or sketches as required to assist maintenance personnel in performing work assignments.
- Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance activities to enhance operational effectiveness and extend the lifecycle of HVAC assets.
- Respond to questions and provide technical expertise related to work assignments, resolving problems and handling complaints effectively.
- Prepare and maintain detailed manual and computerized reports, records, and logs of work performed and materials used.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and operating instructions to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless coordination of maintenance activities.
- Conduct regular inspections of HVAC systems to identify issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and materials required for HVAC maintenance tasks.

REQUIRED FOR ALL HCAA JOBS
- In the event of an emergency or disaster that impacts the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA), an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department or the HCAA Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Such assignments may be before, during, or after the emergency/disaster.
- Complies with all HCAA Policies, Procedures, and Standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS)
· High School Diploma/GED.
· Three (3) years of work experience in construction, maintenance, or the skilled trades.
· Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.
· Must possess a valid, current Florida Driver License at the level required for the position when operating an Authority vehicle or driving on behalf of the Authority.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of accepted methods, practices, and procedures for the construction, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems and related equipment.
- Knowledge of equipment, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems and facilities.
- Knowledge of safety practices and principles relevant to HVAC maintenance and construction activities.
- Knowledge of record-keeping requirements necessary for documenting work performed and materials used.
- Knowledge of laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures applicable to HVAC systems and maintenance.
- Skill in supervising and performing routine repairs, maintenance, and construction of HVAC systems and associated equipment.
- Skill in the use of specialized tools and equipment required for HVAC maintenance and repair tasks.
- Ability to accurately assess maintenance and repair needs, making adjustments to maintenance crews and schedules as necessary.
- Ability to use a computer and related software for reporting, scheduling, and documentation purposes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings accurately.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously to maintain operational efficiency.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside the Authority.
- Ability to handle restricted, sensitive, and confidential information.
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service, serve the public, and represent the Authority with courtesy and professionalism.
