EMPLOYER REPRESENTATIVE I

JOB SUMMARY

This position reviews employer contribution reports to ensure accuracy in accordance to provisions governing PERA membership coverage and salary reporting. Provides customer service, training, and explains benefit information to employers.

Our ideal candidate is an optimistic team player who communicates effectively and has the ability to take complex ideas and explain them in easily understood terms. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional that is organized, takes the initiative to solve problems, and has the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Reviews and analyzes employer contribution reports to ensure compliance with provisions governing PERA coverage and salary requirements
  • Responsible for data entry, information retrieval, written correspondence and mailings
  • Prepares reports and presents data in a meaningful and logical manner
  • Utilizes analytical reasoning and math skills to identify discrepancies and resolve reporting issues
  • Proactively conducts research to assist in correcting employer contribution reports discrepancies and/or exceptions
  • Collaborates with others in developing recommendations to mitigate future errors and reporting issues
  • Serves as the primary customer service resource to assigned employers
  • Responds in a timely manner to employer inquiries related to employer contribution/salary reporting
  • Communicates benefit program information and provides training to employers across the state of Colorado
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of employer-related systems, databases, and communications
  • Provides direction to PERA staff for corrections to employer reporting to ensure statutory compliance
  • Works with internal departments to ensure proper employer reporting and resolution of issues
  • Coordinates with Internal Audit for employer audits
  • Participates in training and educational opportunities for ongoing professional development
  • Maintains regular and prompt attendance in the workplace
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to 3 years of benefits administration
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with an aptitude for math
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Technical/Procedural training experience in small to mid-size group settings preferred
  • Ability to learn, interpret, and communicate state statutes, rules, and procedures in a manner easily understood by persons not familiar with the subject or topic
  • Ability to understand and effectively explain financial data, member benefits, and retirement pensions is desired
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and/or confidential information and situations in a professional manner
  • Capable of working successfully both independently and within a team-focused environment
  • Knowledge of databases and basic proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Occasional overnight travel may be necessary when travelling throughout Colorado

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Standard office environment with frequent telephone communication, computer operation, and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy and printer machine
  • Occasional moving and positioning supplies in excess of 25 pounds
  • All employees are expected to present themselves in a professional manner in alignment with the financial services industry

WORK FROM HOME OPTION

  • Opportunity to work from home up to two days per week. Eligibility dependent upon factors detailed in PERA's Work from Home Policy.
