Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Lead is responsible for assisting the EH&S Manager in the maintenance and execution of Environmental, Health and Safety management systems that provide a secure and safe work environment. These activities will include performing job safety analyses, personal protective equipment (PPE) assessments, and other department-related duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs incident investigations and develops and Implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure EPA and OSHA/TOSH documentation compliance with guidance from the EH&S Manager.
  • Collaborate with employees and managers to identify and mitigate EH&S concerns.
  • Performing Job Safety Analyses and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments.
  • Performing safety inspections of the facility.
  • Maintaining inventories, performing inspections of safety-related equipment, and maintaining documentation.
  • Conducting hazardous waste accumulation area inspections and coordinating waste pickups with contractor.
  • Coordinate RCRA compliance activities and training.
  • Provide guidance and direction for emergency response activities for the facility.
  • implementation of EH&S goals and policies.
  • Serves as Chair of the EH&S Committee.
  • Maintain visible presence on plant floor across all shifts.
  • Monitors working conditions and practices with respect to safe operations.
  • Coordinates site specific training programs such as Lockout/Tagout, Electrical Safety, PIV And other Safety and Environmental training, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Leads safety orientation for new hires
  • Other duties as assigned
  • May require travel <5% of the time.

Qualifications:

  • Able to communicate effectively in the English language.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain EH&S topics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and employee relations skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines as well as manage change and work independently.
  • Ability to lead meetings and train employees.
  • Standard PC skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Windows Operating System)

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. OSHA Certification preferred.
  • 3 years in a manufacturing work environment is preferred
  • Experience in writing reports

  • Ability to read and understand English instructions.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Algebra applications

Physical Requirements:

  • May be required to stand or sit for long periods of time (up to 8 hours per day)
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Must be able to see with or without corrected vision
  • Must be able to hear with or without hearing aide
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, climb stairs, reach, and grasp
  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.

Work Environment:

Work environments vary inside the facilities.  Some areas produce intermittent loud noises, various dusts and debris, chemical vapors, and/or various lighting.  Exposure to outside work conditions will vary, but are generally limited.
