Summary

The Business Strategy Analyst works closely with executive and business leaders to glean and understand what is happening in the business, what opportunities exist, and what is the value of different decision options.  They work closely with corporate development and business leaders to evaluate investment and divestiture opportunities. 

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the strategic pricing reporting tool set and works closely with the estimators and sales managers in the businesses to monitor price attainment and identify and implement price attainment improvements.
  2. Create and maintain pricing reporting tools to monitor the successful implementation of strategic pricing strategies
  3. Develops and implements new/innovative pricing structures to optimize profitability, field pricing flexibility, and pricing controls.
  4. Responsible for the standard business intelligence reporting tool set and works closely with IT and business leaders to develop and implement standard business reports, KPIs, dashboards, and any ad hoc reporting needs.
  5. Works closely with finance and product managers to evaluate investible opportunities.
  6. Prepare or help prepare investment business cases for e.g. new products, capex, and M&A projects
  7. Supports the investment committee to ensure investment decisions are made with full understanding of scenarios and sensitivities.
  8. Assist in creating modeling of investment thesis, help analyze data during due diligence, and provide general analytical support during M&A.
  9. Build and maintain an external data stream and create actionable insights based on changing market conditions at the macro and specific end market levels
  10. Work as an analyst on the team for special projects and initiatives
  11. All other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant business discipline required, MBA a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role required.
  • Advanced MS Excel skillset required.
  • Competency in PowerBI or similar BI toolset required.
  • Competency in other data analysis tools (R, Python, etc.) a strong plus.
  • Experience in industries relevant to L.B. Foster a plus.
  • Experience in Strategic Pricing a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems is preferred, specifically SAP and Visual.
  • Experience with CPQ systems is preferred, specifically SAP Sales Cloud.
