Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island, SC is currently seeking seasonal retail attendants to help support our brand new retail outlets; Provisions & Seaside Shop.The statements in this job description are intended to describe the essential nature and level of work being performed. Job Description
Job Overview: Sell specific lines of merchandise such as apparel, jewelry, snacks, souvenirs, and related lines of merchandise for retail operation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide prompt and professional service to customers:
- Greet and welcome customers upon arrival, obtain or receive merchandise, total bill, accept cash and credit payments, and make change for customers. Post room charges accurately and promptly. Remove and record amount of cash in register at end of shift. Follow and enforce all cash handling policies and procedures. Wrap or bag merchandise for customers and invite customers to return upon departure.
- Stock shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise. Maintain shelves, counters, or tables in a neat and clean manner.
- Sets up advertising displays or arrange merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales.
- Mark merchandise with price.
- Answer customer’s questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.
- Up-sell purchases when possible.
- Sign in and out gift shop keys.
- Verify goods to invoices when merchandise is delivered.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communications and coordination with other departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent plus one-year experience in a retail or customer service related field. Prior cash handling experience preferred. Must speak fluent English. Other languages preferred.
This job requires ability to perform the following:
- Continuous standing and moving about the store
- Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds
- Handling cash, objects, and products
- Using a cash register
- Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests and employees.
- Reading and writing abilities are utilized often.
- Basic math skills are used frequently.

Pay Range
$16 - $18/hour
