Position Overview

Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.


Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities

 

Executing core Accounting Department functions and activities

  • Performs more complex accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization's financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Maintains subledger integrity by enforcing company procedures and internal controls (fixed assets, prepaids, inventory, etc.).
  • Performs account reconciliations and journal entries to ensure that the general ledger is accurate and complete.
  • Checks and analyzes financial information and prepares financial reports and accounting statements so that management has accurate and timely information for making financial decisions.
  • Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Assists with internal controls compliance.
  • Analyzes financial information to identify issues and trends.
  • Spots errors and suggests ways to improve efficiency and spending.
  • Reviews and recommends modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Engages in the more critical and complex aspects of accounting and conducts technical research to assist with GAAP compliance.
  • Participates in project team environment to improve financial procedures and implement process improvements.
  • Participates in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
  • Assists with policy, procedural, or regulatory interpretation and problem resolution.
  • Provides technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational areas managers to help them develop budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities.

 

Accountable for the timely and accurate reporting of financial information, internally and externally, to the required entities:       

  • Provides status of financial condition of the company by collecting, interpreting, and reporting key financial data. This will require collaboration with other business areas to gather information and lead financial initiatives of the department.
  • Ensures timely preparation of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for all CCC Holdings and related subsidiaries as assigned.
  • Performs monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Assists in managing lease entries and software. Acts as subject matter expert for the software and process.
  • Ensures financial statements are accurate and complete through review of accounting entries, comparison of results to plans, review of balance sheet account reconciliations, etc.
  • Assists in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports. Assists in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
  • Assists with external financial audits including scheduling audits, ensuring proper supporting information is timely prepared and financial statements and footnotes are complete and accurate. Expected to lead certain areas of external audit as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
  • Assists Accounting Manager with “downhill” financial projection by collecting and/or preparing forecasted balance sheet, cash flow statements, and cost of goods manufactured, as well as reviewing information provided by other business managers. 
  • Provides financial summaries and reports and interprets the results of operation to all levels of management.

 

Assisting in maximizing return on financial assets by enforcing financial policies, procedures, and controls

  • Assures protection for the assets of the business through implementation of internal controls and internal auditing processes.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by reviewing legislation, consulting with management, and filing financial reports.  Advises management of actions and potential risks.
  • Works with Tax Manager to understand tax landscape and intercompany transactions and how they might impact financial reporting and compliance.

 

Assisting in the preparation of the Company’s Annual Operating Plan and the Five-Year Strategic Plan process based on goals set by the CFO and CEO

  • Makes recommendations to Accounting Manager and Associate Director Accounting regarding cost saving opportunities for G&A.
  • Works with Analysis team to provide Senior Management with division financials in comparison to historical trends, current year estimate, and strategic growth goals.

 

Participation in other projects as requested by Accounting Manager, Associate Director Accounting, and CFO

  • Participates in special analysis projects including technical projects, system upgrades, ad-hoc financial analysis, and cross-departmental teams created to accomplish defined business goals.
  • Works with a team to implement a new process or solve an operational and/or accounting issue.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance
  • Five or more years accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, wholesale trade, or sales environment
    • Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.
  • CPA in good standing preferred
