TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Lead Technician (Construction Foreman) to join our team in Tampa, FL. 

Summary: Responsible for leading a crew of skilled and unskilled laborers for the construction and installation of ITS field devices, communications systems, Traffic Signal systems. Performs on-site installation of electronic, electro-mechanical, and low voltage electrical equipment. This job may include any aspect of field support, and is not limited to system hardware and software, PC’s, and IP telephony/networking/wireless networking. Determines most cost effective and practical method on installation to minimize customer downtime and expense. Prepares proposals for time, labor, and materials.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Equipment installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Generates documentation supporting installation activity.
  • Generates proposals that detail time, labor, materials, and equipment required to perform task.
  • Works closely with customer to determine the best solution.
  • Assists with the training of technicians on newly installed equipment.
  • Prepares schematics and procedures for new equipment.
  • Coordinates activities of subcontractors assisting in the effort.
  • Supervises labor required to perform task.
  • Provides support to installation technicians.
  • Drives local and long distance to worksites.

Required Skills: 

  • Class A CDL 
  • FL Advance MOT Certification
  • Must successfully complete required background / drug screening that TransCore initiates as part of the hiring process; additionally, when required by project, must successfully complete a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background screen. 
  • Communications Construction Experience
  • Energetic / Self-motivated
  • Willing and able to drive and work in the basket of the bucket truck elevated to heights from 40 feet up to 120 feet.

Desired skills:

  • Bucket Truck Operation
  • Outside Plant Fiber Optic Installation
  • Experience Operating Heavy Equipment (2-year min.)
  • Experience Managing Field Crew (2-year min.)
  • FDOT Standard Specification and Design Standards Knowledge

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED is a minimum requirement.
