Summary – basic function of the role
The Supply Chain Intern will work on continuous improvement projects as identified by the business as well as assist in the daily operations of the supply chain team. Major responsibilities of this position include completing data analysis, tracking project status, reporting on project status, facilitating implementation, problem-solving or trouble-shooting project issues, work cross-functionally to execute tasks/activities, and escalate issues as appropriate.
Shift: Monday – Friday; 7:30 – 4:00 pm, some flexibility is possible
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Enerpac Supply Chain Interns will work on multiple projects during their internship. These projects may include but are not limited to:
- SLOB (Slow Moving & Obsolete) inventory analysis and disposition
- Finished goods inventory location analysis and optimization
- Supplier contract software transition, clean-up, and implementation
- Beyond project work, Supply Chain Interns will also assist in the daily operations of the supply chain team. These activities may include but, are not limited to:
- Item master data review and deployment of standard practices
- Supplier master, approved supplier list, sourcing rules standardization and clean-up
- Clean-up and/or submission of work instructions into approved specifications and format
- Support Category Managers with strategic quote packages
- Participate or attend with other interns in organizational activities such as:
- Executive Leadership Team Q&A sessions
- Onsite visits of local company manufacturing sites and key suppliers
- Training and knowledge sharing sessions of Enerpac products
- Community service activities (Hunger Task Force, United Way, etc)
- Team building events
- Supply Chain functional overview (lunch’n’learn)
- Identify and document continuous improvement opportunities to drive improvements to KPI’s such as cost, quality, delivery, and working capital.
- All other duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must have experience working with Microsoft programs especially Excel.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning, Inventory, Sourcing, and Purchasing.
- Must be a self-starter and self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to respond to common inquiries from internal customers and be a strong problem solver.
- Ability to influence others through reasoning and communication (written and oral).
- Ability to execute multiple tasks to deadlines.
Education and Experience
- Seeking a Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management
- Course work in purchasing, supply chain management, and/or manufacturing/operations
- Previous experience in an office or manufacturing environment preferred
- Progress toward professional certification (CPIM, ASCP,CPM) preferred
Physical Demands
Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including traveling by air/auto to remote sites. Position may require travel up to 5% of time depending on assigned projects. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations. Employee is able to work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time.
Work Environment
Primary work environment is temperature-controlled office setting but may also be visiting different manufacturing facilities where following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required. Employee will be exposed to low levels of noise in the office and elevated levels of noise on the plant floor.
