This position is responsible for assisting in the design and implementation of packaging for all Business Team’s (CPG, Club, and Food Service) line extension, repackaging, re-fresh, and optimization initiatives. The role will also manage the improvement and maintenance of existing product lines using new or alternative packaging, equipment setups, or replacements to state-of-the-art packaging equipment.
Essential Functions: Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.
- Streamline the development new project initiatives by leveraging an extensive knowledge base of packaging materials, manufacturing capabilities, and vendor capabilities.
- Optimize packaging based on raw material pricing, availability, and vendor capabilities.
- Provide packaging to optimize total delivered cost (OEE, safety, quality) to align with company goals and objectives.
- Supports business functions as the technical packaging representative for renovation (line extension, repackaging, re-fresh, and optimization) and innovation project types.
- Creates project timelines and requirements for new or improved packaging initiatives.
- Provide project team leadership, motivation, and facilitation to engineers, operators, and R&D personnel.
- Coordinates with Marketing, Sales, R&D, Purchasing, Production, and Distribution on all packaging or equipment changes.
- Work with QA to investigate and eliminate issues of material non-performance as needed.
- Manages and maintains packaging specifications, SOPs, policies, and procedures.
- Work with material suppliers to test and confirm material specifications.

- Strong background knowledge in a variety of packaging materials including, but not limited to corrugated boxes, cartons, flexible plastics, and paper.
- Maintains packaging industry & regulatory awareness.
- Ability to write clear technical specifications for both packaging and equipment purchases.
- Strong math skills, ability to prepare a cost analysis, and good root-cause analysis skills.
- Strong Customer Service skills and a good listener.

- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint as well as TOPS.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time within a flexible work schedule.
Education and/or Experience:
- BS in Packaging or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent Packaging Engineering experience/training.
- 3-5 years of progressive work experience in developing consumer products.
- Experience with multifunctional development teams.
- Consumer Products manufacturing experience required. Food products experience desired.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone along with reaching. Specific vision abilities include close vision requirements due to computer work. Moderate noise, ability to work in a confined area, and ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time are also included.

Salary Information: An employee in this position can expect a salary range between $90,555 and $ $149,406. We typically pay out between $102,000 and $130,000. The actual salary offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including internal equity, experience, education, certification, training, and location. All positions are eligible for additional incentives based on business performance.
