TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Technician I to join our team in Houston, Texas.

 

Job Summary: The Technician I position performs on-site or in-house servicing, repair and/or installation of Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) equipment such as CCTV systems, Dynamic Messaging Signs, Ramp Metering, Wrong Way Detection, etc. This job may include any aspect of field support, maintenance and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; pole and foundation installation, troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment, systems and wiring.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Installs equipment including but not limited to cameras, wiring harnesses, circuit boards, sensors, media converters, solar systems and controller cabinets.
  • Installs electrical conductor, data conductor, and fiber optic
  • Installs pull boxes, conduit, poles and
  • Use test equipment including, but not limited to, volt meter, megger, underground utility locator and video monitor.
  • Tests devices to ensure they work
  • Prepares logs to keep track of field conditions and installation

 

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; relevant technical certifications preferred.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to occasionally lift, climb and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to operate a bucket truck in a safe manner at heights up to 60’
  • Clear and valid Texas driver’s license

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
