Primary Duty 

Procure, store, and issue warehouse parts and equipment for plant use.  This position typically includes responsibility for a single product or plants(s), (e.g., sawmill only, veneer only, etc.).

Essential Functions 

  • Procure, store, and issue warehouse parts and equipment for plant use.
  • Perform shipping and receiving functions, manages and controls inventories and handling transportation of materials.
  • Determine restocking order points and quantities.
  • Replenish stock. Order supplies to stock warehouse. Secure lowest cost from available suppliers.
  • Compile accurate pricing data. Price and charge stockroom supply requisition to right department.
  • Expedite purchase orders – order follows. Call vendors on critical and past due orders.
  • Reconcile discrepancies. Check freight bills and purchase orders for overcharges and shortages.
  • Monitor storekeeper. Ensure supplies are stored in proper place.
  • Practice and promote good housekeeping and ensure physical inventories are stored in proper place.
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience/Physical Functions 

High school diploma, or equivalent. College degree preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in related job function. On-the-job training and/or experience of a minimum of two (2) years in a related discipline or functional area a plus. Operational knowledge of office equipment, such as PC, calculator, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. Ability to understand and apply addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Good understanding and application of proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar.  Composes basic correspondence and assists in the research and preparation of documents of a more technical nature.  Good proofreading skills.

Scope 

Handles moderately complex work assignments and may have a wide variety of duties.

Decision-Making/Supervisory

Under limited supervision exercises independent judgment based on facts and precedents impacting immediate scope of work. Questionable cases are referred to others.  Mistakes which would involve a loss of production, waste of materials, holding up production, or damage to equipment may be substantial even though the effect is usually confined within the organization. Others do not usually check or verify work. Periodically assists supervisor or others in changing existing work procedures or designing new work procedures affecting other people beyond this immediate job.
