The Accounting Senior Manager is responsible for the most complex area of accounting, such as loan accounting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position will oversee complicated projects that span multiple accounting areas and will be the primary resource in responding to the most complex accounting matters. The Accounting Senior Manager supervises more senior staff accountants and accounting managers and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This individual will also be responsible for managing the growth and development, delegation, prioritization, review and supervision of a team of personnel. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year- end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. This position interacts with senior levels of management throughout the organization on accounting practices and policies.Pay Range: Local Minimum Wage - $0.00 - $0.00Job Responsibilities:
Provides accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and financial reviews ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Identifies trends and offers insight for consideration by senior management. Resolves non-routine accounting concerns for the staff and other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy, applying observations and recommendations to operational issues, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and accounting policies.
Confirms financial status by coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data. Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. Supports budgeting and forecasting activities.
Oversees accounting projects that impact multiple areas of accounting and finance. Ensures an appropriate team is assigned to the projects, assists in overcoming challenges to the projects or escalates to management, reports regularly on project status and needs and delivers project results.
Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Assists in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
Responds to inquiries from the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Accounting Officer, Controller, Accounting Directors and other finance and organizational managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc. Participates in special projects as assigned.
Perform all duties of a senior manager to create a strong and reliable work team including hiring and firing, development and coaching, training, and assignment of work.
Job Requirements
Bachelors Degree Accounting Required
Masters Preferred Accounting or Finance Preferred
CPA Preferred
7- 10 years of previous accounting experience
4 years of leadership experience
2 years of experience working on accounting projects
Requires strong interpersonal communication skills
Proven ability to relay complicated information in a simple manner
Previous project management experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
Strong attention to detail
Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Access
Ability to demonstrate strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
