The Project Manager's prime objectives are to assist the Plant Manager in identifying potential progress actions and developing long term related studies as well as to take care of new projects (studies and/or implementation of investments or smaller modifications).  It is also an objective to assist other departments in problem solving. Roles & Responsibilities

  • As the incumbent assists the Plant Manager in identifying potential progress actions, he must have a good understanding of the operation, the internal challenges and the external constraints.  The long-term related studies have to be developed considering directions given by the Plant Manager, updated or in development technologies and modern concepts regarding managerial systems and organizational structures.
  • New projects are an area where the incumbent will have to analyze, in depth, the real needs of the plant and to propose affordable solutions, consulting very closely the future users.  This is a support type of function where ideas have to be sold to others, even if modifying significantly the routine.  The developed studies may be pursued by an investment or by the implementation of a smaller modification, with the support of contractors or plant employees.  The incumbent has to work with CTS in the development of major projects and is the on-site leader, when realizing the investment.
  • Finally, the incumbent has to be aware of the cement operation when he is asked to help in troubleshooting problems, and his credibility depends upon his ability to be part of the plant team and to relate with other departments.
  • One major challenge for the incumbent is to mitigate short-term needs and long-term strategies in creative solutions, thus helping the Plant Manager in selling unusual or new ideas.
  • Assist in the integration of long-term requirements and strategies and to accept new technologies or concepts by those not directly under the supervision or authority of the incumbent.
  • Be aware of the plant issues and maintain a good updated technological, managerial and organizational knowledge by frequent outside contacts and literature.
