TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Construction Laborer to join our ITS team in Tampa, FL.
Summary: This position will perform underground utility construction to include Conduit and Fiber Optic Cable installation, Concrete work along a horizontal plane “flatwork,” and other general services as needed. Candidates selected for this position must be able to travel out of town for short periods of time, and work nights as needed to perform the duties of the position.
Job Duties will be the following, but not limited to:
- Install equipment including but not limited to cameras, detectors, controller cabinets.
- Install electrical conductor, data conductor, fiber optic cable, pull boxes, conduit, poles, and foundations.
- Perform Conduit and Fiber Optic Cable installation and Concrete work along a horizontal plane “flatwork.”
- Connects conductors to equipment to make equipment work correctly.
- Prepares logs to keep track of field conditions and installation activities.
- Completes paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Completes reports, logs, and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and local practices.
- Other general labor services as needed.
Requirements:
- Must complete and pass a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) background check and/or SLERS as required by the project.
- Must have the ability to travel out of town for short periods of time, and work nights as needed to perform the duties of the position.
- Must have the ability to lift 100lb. bags of concrete for mixing.
- Must be able to work at heights from 40ft to 80ft or more from an aerial lift, bucket trucks or crane basket.
- Must be able to work outdoors in the heat for extended periods of time.
- Ability to dig trench with shovel or mini-X, use basic hand tools and basic battery-operated tools.
- Strong Verbal Communication Skills
Preferred:
- CDL A License, Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Certified,
- General computer skills and knowledge.
- A valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, outdoor weather conditions, and moving traffic. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
