As the Machine Maintenance Manager, you will lead the maintenance team in the development and performance of maintenance activities. You are responsible for making sure that machinery and equipment are kept in good operating condition. You will lead vendors and contractors efforts to improve reliability and reduce cost while following best available safety practices. 

How will you play an integral role? 

  • Manage the maintenance team with a priority for developing and following the best available safety practices for operation and maintenance.
  • Understand plant needs and plan for maintenance work to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.
  • Understand the technical aspects of the plant equipment and machines to include textile machines such as air jet, warpers, twisting, and texturing machines. 
  • Provide maintenance resources (employees and contractors) with the correct skills and knowledge to maintain efficient plant operations.
  • Ensure that all maintenance employees have been educated, trained, and abide by plant rules and procedures regarding safety, work standards, productivity, housekeeping, cost reduction, and waste.
  • Supervise contractors, and vendors providing equipment and maintenance services. Ensure that contractors and vendors comply with Unifi’s Contractor Safety Rules.
  • Make periodic evaluations of all maintenance-related procedures and initiate needed changes.
  • Continuous improvement of equipment reliability through the use of preventive and predictive maintenance methods.
  • Conduct root/cause analysis on equipment failures.
  • Manage critical spare parts inventory to ensure equipment repairs are timely and efficient.

Are you qualified for the position? 

  • Education:
    • AAS or BS degree with a major in electronics, electrical controls, or mechanical engineering technology preferred
    • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Experience:
    • 5-10 years maintenance management and/or lead maintenance experience required
    • Experience managing preventative and corrective maintenance plans is required
    • Working knowledge and prior experience in textile operations, troubleshooting, and/or maintenance preferred
    • Experience with electronic control systems is a plus
    • Experience maintaining/repairing conveyors and mechanical drive systems is preferred
    • Prior recycling experience and CAD is a plus
  • Skills/Competencies:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word & Excel) and Adobe Suite
    • Familiarity w/ CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) preferred
    • Ability to work flexible schedule (weekends and holidays as needed)
    • Excellent people and management skills to interact cross-functionally, with internal and external partners
  • Travel Requirements:
  • Ability to travel up to 10% between domestic plant locations as needed.
