200-Analytical-General(Min) - Lab Assistant 5 Swing Shift

Independently prepare geological samples for

analysis and carry out routine analysis by operating and calibrating all

Digestion and instrumental lab equipment.

 

Specific Responsibilities:
 

Use Webview to track samples and create sample batches     

Perform routine Wet Chemistry duties to include the following
method parameters:

Aqua regia 

Cyanide leaches

     

  • Perform AA and ICP analysis and gravimetric finish
  • Perform basic lab apparatus calibration and routine maintenance;      
  • Prepare all laboratory solutions as per SOP;
  • Follow established SOP and QC protocols ensuring the quality of the analytical data meets ALS standards;
  •   Prioritize workloads according to rush list, daily stats and turnaround commitments;
  • Maintain and organize routinely used inventory, production & calibration logs and equipment records;        
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety requirements within the Safety Manual and communicate all safety concerns to the Manager/Supervisor

  • Train staff on all digestion and instrumental parameters;    
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Ensure storage of hazardous waste in accordance with regulated health & safety procedures;      
  • Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.

 

Require Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

       

  • Organized and highly motivated
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the team;   
  • Strong analytical and mechanical skills      
  • Detail oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality;      
  • Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues   
  • Ability to troubleshoot as needed;  
  • Excellent English communication
  •   skills (written and verbal);        
  • Strong MS Office skills, specifically MS Word, Excel and Outlook;      
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

 

Required Qualifications:

       

  • Minimum of 3 years laboratory experience in analytical chemistry or related field preferred.

 

Physical Demands:

      

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs;
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours per shift;    
  • Manual dexterity to preform repetitive tasks.      
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.
