Separate Account Reporting has a unique role in the finance organization as the team is interacts with almost every product group along with the preparation of the financial statements that support the variable investment options and the company's SEC /GAAP and Statutory reporting. The experience gained by working on this team provides insights into the operations of a major life insurance company along with the opportunity to work in the ever changing world of financial reporting. The team works along side the business areas on new product launches and changes to investment options. There is a need to think strategically and to ensure that all controls and financial reporting adhere to all standards (SOX, GAAP, and Statutory). There is always something new coming our way !

In this Investment Accounting role you will be responsible for a variety of accounting & reporting processes for the Separate Account Reporting Area to ensure compliance on all applicable accounting bases. Additionally, the person in this position will be responsible for understanding current controls and develop new financial control processes as needed to meet SOX, internal control, compliance, legal, regulatory, accounting and other business relationship activities. You will be expected to be able to research and document as needed.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Prepares financial statements and summary-level presentations outlining complex theory and business-related transactions.
  • Interact with relevant Business and IT stakeholders to prioritize cross-functional support to ensure adequate financial controls, accounting, and reporting are maintained.
  • Deliver project support within agreed upon milestones
  • Position will be responsible to review reconciliations and research operational issues that are impacting financial reporting
  • Prepare and review year end schedules for statutory reporting

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (Accounting, Business or Finance)
  • 8 years work experience with a focus in Insurance Accounting and Investment or Mutual fund financial statement preparation
  • 8-10 years external audit related experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or MBA
  • Experience in preparation of footnote disclosures required by US GAAP, SEC, and Statutory.
  • Knowledge of consolidations and eliminations and identification of inter-company and related party Transactions.
  • Ability to analyze financial statement variances, identify unusual trends and inconsistencies and prepare formal analyses for senior management/pace/audit committee review.
  • Experience using SAP Reporting or Oracle Reporting tools.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are required. Should be a self-starter.
  • Strong Excel Skills
