Skills Required:

  • Inspect materials to ensure quality standards are met

  • Rework(minor repairs)

  • Trouble shooting/Problem solving (SPC)

  • High school diploma , GED or Vocational training required (minimum 3 years’ experience as a milling and lathe machine operator)

  • Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions

  • Work with engineers as needed to support tool or process development

  • Competency of basic math (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, and application to practical situations)

  • Welding (TIG, MIG, Oxy-acetylene, and plasma cutting)

  • Fork lift certification

  • Inspection Tools (including but not limited to micrometer, caliper, feeler gage, height gage, dial indicators, levels, squares, depth micrometer)

  • Use of power/pneumatic tools and machinery (including but not limited to band saw, pedestal grinder, surface grinder, drill press, shear, manual press, motorized press, grinding booth, pipe bender, milling and lathe machines)

  • Metal forming and bending

  • Preventive maintenance/TPM

  • Layup (fabricate fiberglass/composite tools including knowledge of material behavior, mixing ratios, cure times)

  • Oven use – including knowledge of oven cycle times

  • Surface grinding

  • Pressure test fixture, Bird impact fixture, electric/power fixtures

  • Vacuum tools and components

Requires:   Must be able to read, write, report and communicate status of daily activities in a timely manner to direct supervisor, manager, and other teams. Read and interpret work instructions and documented procedures.  Able to understand customer specifications and requirements, and provide full support to achieve department Key Process Indicator targets and goals. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. Work with some solvents and chemicals, and wear all required PPE necessary to complete work tasks. Must follow all EH&S rules and regulations at all times. Good record keeping skills are necessary. Computer experience required. Must be able to work overtime as necessary, per business needs. Must be able to work 2nd shift and/or be reassigned shift if it is dictated by business needs, and any additional duties required by leadership.
