SVP, Investor Relations - Head of Fixed Income

Who we are looking for:

Investor Relations (IR) is responsible for developing and managing State Street’s (STT) relationships with institutional investors and research analysts, with respect to both equity and fixed income markets. IR is responsible for effectively communicating STT’s strategy and financial performance to the investment community on an ongoing basis to ensure an accurate and current understanding of STT’s strategic and financial position. By doing so, IR aims to ensure that STT maintains a stable, high-quality investor base. IR accomplishes these goals in several venues including quarterly earnings calls, investor presentation materials, industry conferences and investor meetings. Additionally, IR works closely with senior management and the Board of Directors to effectively communicate market sentiment, helping to inform strategic decision making.

The SVP, IR and Head of Fixed Income reports to and collaborates with the Executive Vice President (EVP), Global Head of IR in developing and executing the global IR strategy. The candidate will play a key role in the broader IR strategy with equity analysts. In addition, the position will lead our engagement with the fixed income investment community on behalf of STT as part of the wider IR function. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing STT’s IR strategy for debt investors and other key fixed income stakeholders, ensuring clear, transparent, and effective communication of STT’s financial performance, funding strategy, and risk profile. The individual will have primary responsibility for managing relationships with buy-side or sell-side analysts who are primarily focused on U.S. financials. This position will work closely with STT’s Treasury and Financial Planning and Analysis organizations, as well as other areas of Finance and business units to gather and assimilate information and work to ensure company messaging is analytically driven, transparent and clear. 
 

What you will also be responsible for:

As Investor Relations Head of Fixed Income your responsibilities will include:

  • In addition to being an integral part of the broader IR function at STT, the SVP, IR and Head of Fixed Income will serve as the primary liaison between STT and the global fixed income investor community
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive investor relations strategy for fixed-income investors
  • Lead the preparation of fixed income investor presentations, earnings call materials and roadshow content as required
  • Analyze market trends and investor sentiment to shape the firm’s messaging and engagement strategy
  • Collaborate with Treasury, Finance and Legal teams on the execution of debt issuances, ensuring effective communication with investors
  • Advise senior management, including the CFO and Treasurer, on fixed income investor sentiment and market trends
  • Provide strategic guidance for IR during market volatility, regulatory changes, and other macroeconomic events impacting fixed-income investors
  • Participate in regular credit rating agency updates

Other responsibilities include:

  • Creating value-driver-based investment messages in collaboration with the EVP, Global Head of Investor Relations and the high performing STT IR team. Assist IR in preparation and development of earnings materials including the earnings press release, earnings presentation, scripts and other preparation materials
  • Keep shareholders informed of STT’s financial performance, strategy and growth prospects
  • Oversee presentation materials and accompanying management materials for industry conferences and meetings
  • Understand street expectations to inform message refinement at quarterly earnings and other Regulation FD events
  • Supervise the preparation of periodic reports regarding STT and its peers, including insights on industry trends, regulations, emerging issues to watch and other observations and perceptions from a competitive marketplace standpoint 
  • Provide analysis and insights to the STT team on company’s competitive position (actual and perceived), strategic advantages, threats and opportunities quarterly and on an as needed basis

  • Strong understanding of banking and the financial services industry
  • Exceptional financial acumen with the ability to distill complex financial information into clear, investor-friendly communication
  • A clear understanding of the drivers of financial performance and debt and equity valuation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, must be comfortable writing management scripts and investor talking points
  • A clear and thorough understanding of the financial modeling techniques used by security analysts to project a company's performance and the resulting value for its stock
  • Strong interpersonal skills; strong executive presence
  • Demonstrated process improvement and leadership experience required
  • Ability to establish new relationships quickly, both internally and externally
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with time-sensitive deadlines and multiple demands
  • A highly ethical individual with a clear and thorough understanding of Regulation FD and all applicable securities rules and regulations is imperative. Must also adhere to all STT compliance procedures and internal operations risk controls in accordance with all regulatory standards, requirements and policies
  • Remains current on economic, political, regulatory, financial industry regulations, stock market outlook and other topics important to the operations of STT

​Education & Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in investor relations, financials research, investment banking, corporate finance or a related field within a global financial institution
  • College degree, including graduate degree preferred. Other professional designation (e.g., CFA, CPA) is highly desirable 
  • Deep understanding of both equity valuation and fixed income credit analysis, credit rating agencies, regulatory capital frameworks, and bank funding strategies
  • Proven ability to engage with C-suite executives and institutional investors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience managing investor communications
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of sustainable finance and ESG-linked debt issuance

Salary Range:

$225,000 - $337,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
