ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside has a Public Service Rotational Internship opportunity that will afford graduate-level students the possibility to rotate through five different County departments within the scope of their Accounting or Finance profession. The selected candidate will gain exposure to a variety of public service roles and responsibilities and will have the opportunity to experience and learn about a single role and its function throughout various departments.

The Public Service Rotational Internship has a flexible work week consisting of approximately 20 hours per week.  The incumbent will rotate through each department every 2 months and requires a 10-month commitment.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Accounting and Finance Rotation:
Students who are planning to pursue a career focused on the financial management of an organization would benefit from a rotational internship in accounting and finance. Although both are centered around an organization’s finances, the difference between the two is that accounting focuses on the day-to-day flow of money, while finance focuses more on managing assets to plan for future growth.

The intern will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience alongside accounting and business professionals and learn about all contributing factors within an organization that allow it to efficiently perform all business activities. The intern will learn and assist with financial reports, generating and analyzing data, and reconciling accounts, and support the accounting and finance department through administrative tasks while observing various facets of accounting and financial management.
