Title:  Production Supervisor

Summary:

Supervises all activities related to the production operation. Coordinates and schedules production personnel in order to meet the production schedule. The production supervisor will directly be involved performing individual tasks within the process by leading the production foremen to become successful with managing resources, tools, training, and direction for production employees to be safe, effective and efficient.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises all activities related to the production operation to ensure company standards for quality and customer satisfaction being fulfilled.
  • Responsible to meet the production schedule as agreed / confirmed in coordination with production scheduling.
  • Confers with other supervisors and foremen to coordinate individual production activities, within and interdepartmental.
  • Supervises the production workers, workload, capacities and schedule of assignment.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems and / or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Observes workers to ensure compliance with company working practices and standards.
  • Responsible for production equipment and tool maintenance in cooperation with maintenance department.
  • Coordinates and schedules meetings with other departments as required to ensure meeting the production schedule.
  • Responsible to meet and maintain ISO standards, where applicable, under the companies’ directive.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate information to the employees.
  • Responsible to meet and maintain OTD (on-time delivery).
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers.
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Previous direct supervisory or similar leadership experience
  • Experience in a high-mix, high-customized, low-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ISO-90001 requirements and processes
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • ERP Computer experience, SAP preferrred
  • MS Office Word and Excel software experience

Knowledge of:

  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles with resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

 

Education/Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent experience. Associates Degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing Technology or higher preferred
  • Minimum four years supervisory skills in the field of production.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Lean Sigma

Language Skills:

  •  Ability to read and understand english instructions.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Must possess, as a minimum, basic Algebra. Descriptive Statistics

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to walk and sit.  Individuals may be required to provide manufacturing/test support through “hands on” approaches.  This involves working in and around the products and systems at the factory or installed at the customer site.  Occasional lifting may be required not to exceed 50 pounds without additional support.  Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an office environment.  It may be required that individuals work in the manufacturing area when providing manufacturing support.  This work environment may be at higher noise levels and lower air quality.  Individuals may also be required to provide field support for equipment whereby the outside environment may be encountered as well as environments commonly encountered in air-conditioning equipment installations.
