The Doe Run Company is currently seeking a Mine Superintendent to oversee all aspects of the mining process including safety and environmental compliance, cost effectiveness, and production efficiency. Help establish and meet targeted short and mid-range operational goals and budgets of the assigned site.  This position will be based out of our Fletcher Mine in Centerville, MO.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with management, peers, and relevant departments to establish short-term and long-term mine plans, strategies, and tactics.
  • Work through front-line leaders to ensure operational goals are communicated and implemented effectively. Monitor success through reporting on a daily basis and address with front-line leaders on an ongoing basis.
  • Work through front-line leaders to ensure performance management and employee development needs are addressed in a timely manner to meet the labor needs of assigned mine.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the site team on a daily basis to address issues that will impact production or the mill.
  • Complete the yearly budgeting process for the department, track results, and make adjustments as needed.
  • Oversee state and federal mine inspections and complete necessary documentation for MSHA inspections. Respond to findings and strive to improve inspection results.
  • Empower supervisors and other direct reports to maintain EHS (environmental, health, and safety) compliance by establishing expectations, and holding teams accountable for adherence to EHS policies, procedures, and best practices; evaluating employee performance via field and document audits; reporting and correcting unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and participating in the continuous improvement in EHS performance through management systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or related engineering field preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years mine operations management experience and capital project management.
  • MSHA certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), Budgeting (Adaptive), Invoicing/Accounts Payable (DataServ) HR Systems (UKG), Drafting (AutoCAD), I-Series (LIMS, ETMS), Tableau, and PeopleSoft.

  • Extensive knowledge of and proven ability to adhere to MSHA mine safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to employ mining best practices and adherence to safe practices and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly uses a computer/tablet, phone/radio, and drive a personnel carrier. Rarely required to use powered or non-powered hand tools and loading/hauling equipment. Requires concentrated attention.
  • Frequently required to work underground, work in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, exposed to vibration, wet, humid (non-weather) conditions. Rarely work in confined spaces and wear a respirator, work at heights of 4’ for more with fall protection. May be exposed to loud noise levels.
  •  Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, drive, and use repetitive motion with wrist, hand, and/or fingers. Occasionally required to sit for extended periods of time, rarely required to reach with hands/arms, feel attributes of objects, grasp, push, climb or balance, stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl. Requires clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, and three-dimensional vision, ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. Rarely required to lift 51+ pounds.
