Position Description:

  • Design, selection and implementation of plant facilities used for operating natural gas pipeline systems.
  • Review, recommend and evaluate the design, installation, and operations of compressor station and associated systems to insure compliance with DOT requirements while evaluating them for the optimization of efficient, safe and economical operation.
  • This position is expected to review design/construction drawings.
  • Accountable for completing tasks with quality, compliance with applicable codes/standards, and on schedule.
  • Effectively interface and integrate with other Company departments including Project Management, Procurement, Engineering, Business Development, and Operations to maintain the integrity of the Company’s infrastructure.
  • Represent the Company in area of expertise with customers, suppliers, licensees, third party engineering firms, outside consultants, and industry associations.
  • Interface with other technical/engineering disciplines to ensure the effective integration of mechanical systems with the overall product design.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work while supporting the department and Project Manager with delivery.
  • Assist with the commissioning and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and systems.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Requirements/Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience with the mechanical design of heavy industrial facilities.
  • Experience and knowledge in design, selection and requirements of piping, fittings, valves, plant equipment, safety systems, etc.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with both company and non-company personnel to accomplish goals in a fast paced environment.
  • Proficient PC-based skills including MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Access) and engineering applications.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills to address complex technical matters.
  • Create schematics and associated Bill of Materials for projects.
  • Create technical specifications, Engineering Standards, Construction Standards, and O&M Standards.
  • Ability to initiate and plan the design of high pressure gas systems, oil/water/compressed air systems, safety systems, etc.
  • Working knowledge of codes and standards such as 49 CFR 192, ANSI/ASME B31.8, etc.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with minimal guidance or supervision.
  • Prepare and coordinate engineering reports, calculations, studies, and presentations.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company.
  • Travel is required (~25%).

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience in the design and specification of natural gas mechanical systems, including heat exchangers, gas compressors, pressure vessels, piping, and compressor controls.
  • Knowledge and experience in the design and operation of natural gas facilities.
  • Experience leading industrial plant construction projects from a mechanical engineering standpoint.
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is highly desirable.
