TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our development team in Tampa, Florida.

Summary: The Sr Software Engineer will participate in software development team responsibilities focusing on support of TransCore’s tolling applications deployed at Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority. This is a unique opportunity to work in all areas of the software development lifecycle and have a view on and participation in the entire process.

Requirements and Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in and a strong knowledge of C.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash and Perl.
  • Experience with source control (Git) and JIRA to manage work items.
  • Experience with MySQL databases.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience and basic networking knowledge to include TCP/IP, UDP protocols, IP addressing and subnets, DNS, Network Interface Configuration.
  • Experience in programming with REST/SOAP services.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

          Desired Skills:

          • Knowledge of web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/ Typescript).
          • VMware vSphere.
          • RabbitMQ
          • High Availability systems, Load Balancing and Scalability
          • Linux Administration
          • Apache web server
          • Nagios / NRPE
          • Hardware interface / Device driver development
