POSITION - COMMISSIONING ENGINEERING LEAD (MECHANICAL)

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Commissioning Engineering Lead to join our Design and Engineering team within the North America Places group. This leadership role is critical in driving the successful commissioning of complex mechanical systems and building infrastructure across a variety of high-impact projects. We are looking to expand our team of skilled multi-discipline engineers and consultants throughout North America. Is this you?

Our projects span cutting-edge Data Centers, Transit Facilities, Commercial and Retail spaces, Mixed-Use Residential developments, Institutional/Educational buildings, and Social Infrastructure. As part of Arcadis — the second-largest architectural firm globally — you’ll contribute to our journey to becoming the world’s largest engineering firm by strengthening our commissioning expertise in the Northeast Region!

The successful candidate will be required to travel domestically (40%) within the United States to go to project sites and meet with clients!

Role accountabilities:

  • Commissioning Expertise: Lead the commissioning of mechanical systems and building infrastructure, ensuring compliance with design standards, sustainability goals, and operational excellence.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor commissioning teams, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, technical solutions, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Project Oversight: Collaborate across disciplines to ensure timely delivery of commissioning deliverables, including reports, tests, and system validations.
  • Market Presence: Actively engage with clients and organizations in the region, identifying opportunities for new projects and partnerships.
  • Operational Knowledge: Demonstrate commercial acumen in fee creation, tracking financial success, and managing commissioning scopes.
  • Global Collaboration: Work effectively within a multicultural environment, coordinating with teammates and clients across the globe.
  • Sustainability Integration: Incorporate sustainable practices and carbon reduction strategies into the commissioning process.
  • Travel: Be willing to travel up to 40% of the time, including overnight stays, to oversee commissioning activities at project sites.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering and/or commissioning
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Proven ability to lead client discussions and deliver technical solutions in a clear, concise manner.
  • Experience commissioning mechanical systems with a strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and building automation systems
  • Fundamental knowledge of Autodesk Platforms and other digital design tools, including Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or Building Information Modeling (BIM) solutions
  • BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
