3D Systems seeks a proactive Environmental Health & Safety Specialist – Field Service to support our additive manufacturing (3D printing) operations and ensure a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. This role involves overseeing field service safety, implementing EHS policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The position requires travel to customer sites, manufacturing facilities, and field service locations to support on-site safety initiatives and training.

- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, and ISO 14001/45001 standards, as well as company-specific EHS policies.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analysis related to additive manufacturing processes, including powder handling, laser safety, chemical exposure, and ventilation systems.
- Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Conduct EHS audits, inspections, and safety observations at manufacturing and customer sites.
- Monitor powder handling, ventilation systems, and hazardous waste disposal procedures for compliance.
- Ensure safe use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in environments involving metal powders, resins, and high-energy lasers.
- Verify contractor and subcontractor compliance with EHS requirements.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for field service engineers, technicians, and manufacturing teams.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings related to fire safety, chemical handling, and machine operations.
- Promote a strong safety culture through employee engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implement strategies for reducing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Support emergency response planning, drills, and fire safety procedures in additive manufacturing environments.
- Assist in managing workers’ compensation cases and return-to-work programs.
- Report and track safety incidents, near-misses, and regulatory filings.
- Analyze EHS data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Participate in the development of EHS strategies, process enhancements, and the sharing of best practices across locations.
- Stay updated on industry advancements in EHS related to additive manufacturing.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in EHS, preferably in an additive manufacturing, 3D printing, or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience with laser safety, combustible dust, hazardous material handling, and machine safety is a plus.
- Certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ASP, CHST, OSHA 30/500, or laser safety certification are preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT, and ISO standards for additive manufacturing.
- Experience in conducting audits, safety training, and risk assessments in manufacturing and field environments.
- Understanding of hazardous powder management, ventilation, and chemical exposure controls in 3D printing.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based role with frequent travel.
- Proficiency in EHS software, Microsoft Office, and reporting tools.
