POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a motivated Engineering Intern to join our team and assist in our initiative to optimize and deliver quality products worldwide. This role will be instrumental in supporting our Engineering and Production teams. The Engineering Intern will assist in the design and analysis of engineering projects. This role includes working to assist with project documentation.

 

DURATION AND COMPENSATION:

This is a full-time internship position lasting 10 weeks, commencing on / around Monday, June 2nd, and ending on / around Friday, August 8th.  Interviews will be held in March.  The successful candidate is expected to be available for the duration of the internship.

The internship is paid, and compensation will be competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Design tests to verify and validate the functionality of PermAlert products under various conditions and settings
  • Perform tests and collect data to quantify product functionality under various conditions and settings
  • Create reports to share findings with engineering team members
  • Verify user documentation by direct use and set of the products, and make updates as required
  • Assist in the creation of system drawings and job files including wireframes
  • Create bills of materials and build instructions for internal and external manufacturing
  • Make edits to work instructions to correct and improve manufacturing procedures
  • Program and test prototypes and first article devices for functionality
  • Collect and log power requirements for various products
  • Document procedures as necessary to align assembly standards

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS/REPORTING: The 2025 Summer Intern, Engineering interacts with all levels in the organization. Reports to the Electronics Product Manager.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

EDUCATION:

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program for Engineering, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Introductory knowledge of the basic principles of engineering, microcontrollers and basic programming, and understanding of the basics of creating, executing and reporting on experiments.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical lab equipment such as DMM, Oscilloscope, and programable power supply.
  • Familiarity with standard 2D wireframe and or 3D CAD design a plus.
  • Beginner or Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to effectively navigate organizational interdependencies and build relationships effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results, work within ambiguity, and successfully managed unresolved situations, frequent change, or unexpected events.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to develop and track metrics, use data to solve problems, and create compelling narratives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: N/A

TRAVEL: Minimal, up to 10%

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Must be able to operate computer and other office machines and office equipment as the job requires.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, bending, and reaching. May require lifting up to 5 pounds. Requires manual agility sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers and other office equipment as the position requires. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

MENTAL DEMANDS: Must handle diverse work problems on a daily basis. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. Must relate and interact with people at all levels in the Company.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a typical office setting. This position may require working outside of standard business hours.
