Our Team
Based in Brandon, Manitoba, Koch Fertilizer Canada ULC’s (KFCU) operations have been producing agricultural fertilizer products since 1967. We synthesize and blend nitrogen, phosphate and sulfur products with ammonia, which we market primarily in the prairie provinces of Canada and the northern United States. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, we employ approximately 270 dedicated team members. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, successful applicants will be hired into this position at $22.66/hour. All overtime is paid at double time.
The length of this position may extend up to nine (9) months; recurring terms as well as permanent employment opportunities are also available based on the value you create!
What You Will Do
· Loading and Unloading: Handle materials and equipment, ensuring they are moved safely and efficiently.
· Assisting Skilled Workers: Support skilled tradespeople by providing necessary tools and materials.
· Site Preparation: Clean and prepare work sites, including setting up and taking down temporary structures.
· Tolerance to occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic/caustic chemicals with appropriate PPE
· Minor Carpentry: working with power tools such as Table saw, Skill saw, Drills
- Some window and door replacement.
- Build winter hoarding for around pumps.
- Build lockers/tool storage for around the plant.
- Build forms for concrete repair on pump bases.
- Build crates to ship pumps and motors out for repair.
- Adhere to all in-place safety measures and procedures
· Assist with general facility tasks, related duties and backfill other positions as required
· Utilize communication (verbal & written) and computer skill
· Demonstrate initiative, with the ability to work independently
· Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
· Adhere to all in-place safety measures and procedures and have a general understanding of safety practices when working with hand and power tools.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment
· Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
· Ability to sit, stand, kneel, climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights
· Ability to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds
· Ability to travel to and enter site to access equipment
· Ability to pass pulmonary breathing test
· Ability to wear a gas mask-type respirator and PPE
· Unassisted physical mobility in and around plant and equipment
· Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
· Occasional exposure to fumes/airborne particles
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- High school diploma or equivalent (ie. GED)
- Valid class five (5) driver’s license
- Ability to multitask in a fast - pace environment
- Trade experience in working or school environment
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience operating equipment in an industrial environment
- Experience operating power tools (skill saws – table saw –drills – grinders)
- Trades related experience (insulating – carpentry – concrete work – plumbing – painting)
- Availability for shift work and emergency call outs
- Demonstrate initiative, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Perform detailed tasks with satisfactory attitude and job performance
- Demonstrate organization and time management skills with a high level of integrity and professionalism
- Demonstrate Strong analytical, critical, economic thinking, and problem-solving skills
