200-Analytical-General(Min) - Lab Assistant 4  Swing Shift

About the Position

The primary responsibility of a laboratory assistant is to independently weigh pulp samples and

Provide training for employees in the production weigh room.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Weigh samples for all Geochemistry and Fire Assay methods;

  • Responsible for the training of all new employees;

  • Cross training of all employees for all methods.

  • May assist in pulp standard management; re-filling standards

  • Preparation of initial Round Robin Samples.

  • Transfer samples between digestion and analytical sections;

  • Organize workstation and samples;

  • Perform data entry;

  • Wash test tubes and other glassware as required;

  • Look up work orders as required;

  • Follow priority lists;

  • May perform inventory counts;

  • Serves as backup for A5 Team Leads;

  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and
    schedules while ensuring analytical quality;

  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health
    and safety policies and procedures;

  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic understanding of computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite)
    required;

  • Good hand eye coordination;

  • Good listening skills;

  • Able to work in team setting;

  • Good organizational skills;

  • Quality and detail oriented individual;

  • Ability to work independently or under supervision;

  • Intermediate English communication skills required (verbal and written).

 

Required Qualifications
         
         Minimum of 6 months experience in the production weigh room required

 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs;

  • Ability to sit and/or stand at a computer for up to 7.5 hours;

  • Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.

  • Ability to
    sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary
    responsibilities.
