As a Gelatin Technician 3, the responsibilities will include weighing the necessary materials and uses the gelatin melters to produce gelatin for the Encapsulation department.  The role will also include being capable of preparing soft gel, vegan gel and tapioca gel masses. You would determine the viscosity of gelatin with the appropriate equipment, and performs minor repair of the Gelatin department’s equipment.

  • Prepares materials for compounding into gel mass.
  • Sets-up, cleans, and performs minor repairs of equipment for processing operations.
  • Operates reactors capable of manufacturing ‘SG’, ‘VG’ & ‘TG’ gel masses.
  • Able to manufacture soft gel, vegan gel and tapioca gel masses following batch record instructions.
  • Determines viscosity of gel masses, if applicable.
  • Performs or verifies batch record entries.
  • Responsible for training of Gelatin Technician I & II.
  • Ensures gel mass in receivers are kept at the appropriate temperature at all times.
  • Disposes of scrap gelatin.
  • Clearly and promptly reports questions, process and equipment problems to Supervisor.
  • Ensures batch records, equipment log books, and other relevant records are up-to-date.
  • Cleans and maintains processing rooms and equipment.
  • Monitors process and equipment and makes necessary adjustments to maintain batch record specifications.
  • Maintains inventory control by use of Component cards, RTS process & Material Requisition forms.
  • Able to follow batch record instructions for the manufacture of Titanium Dioxide slurry using colloid mill.
  • Able to schedule gelatin.
  • Able to cover for Lead in their absence.
  • Follows established department SOP's, cGMP regulations, and batch record instructions.
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and operates in a safe manner.
  • Perform other job duties related to the job, as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED Certificate; and/or
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in an FDA regulated industry, or progressive advancement in Gel Technician II level; or
  • Any combination of experience, education, and training that provides the level of knowledge, skills, and experience needed to successfully perform the job.

This position is currently classified as on-site.

Base Salary Range: $18.00 – 22.00 per hour, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Holidays, Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
