Northern Trust is looking for an Sr. Analyst to join our Global Financial Controls (GFC) team as part of the Corporate Controller’s group. Under direction from a Global Financial Controls Manager, this individual performs testing for Northern Trust’s Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and System & Organizational Controls (SOC) Programs.

Major Duties:

  • Perform SOX/SOC internal controls testing, including all testing phases/processes related to Northern Trust’s programs: planning, walkthroughs, controls testing, status meetings, findings/potential control deficiencies and remediation validation testing.
  • Partner with business process owners, external auditors and Governance to support both programs.
  • Perform and execute internal controls testing, including documentation for completeness and accuracy, test of design, and test of operating effectiveness.
  • Document SOX/SOC controls and related testing attributes, in alignment with test objectives and the department’s standards.
  • Deliver quality SOX/SOC controls work paper documentation, in accordance with standards and deadlines.
  • Perform reviews of business units by understanding the key risks, objectives and controls within the function being reviewed.
  • Communicate testing evidence and requests with control owners.
  • Provide SOX/SOC testing status results with management on a continuous basis.
  • Identify SOX/SOC training needs and participate in company/team training
  • Ability to lead one or more projects across the GFC team.
  • Perform any other duties as may be directed by GFC management.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience with GRC tools: WDesk, BWise, Protiviti, ServiceNow, etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and a dynamic work environment as part of a Global Financial Control team working across multiple time zones and jurisdictions.

Qualifications:

  • Past work experience with Sarbanes-Oxley act (SOX 404), and Service Organization Controls (SOC).
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Accounting, Finance or Business preferred. Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business a plus.
  • Experience in financial services preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor a plus.
  • 5+ years of work experience in Public Accounting, Internal Audit, or Financial Controls.

Salary Range:

$66,700 - 113,300 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
